AMERICA

We all know America as being a mainly Christian nation, and we're not wrong. There is about 80% of the population that say they are a christian. About 50% of the population are Protestant, this being the largest denomination. The next largest is Catholicism at about 25%, and the rest are made up of people in different denominations, such as Mormon.

But why is the Protestant religion so large? Around the year 1600, some people from England wanted to start a plantation in America. When they left England, they took their Protestant religion with them, and that's how Protestantism was born in America.

Some of the minority religions in America include Jewish, Buddhist and Islam.

There are also some people that do not "belong" to any religion. These people make up about 10-12% of the American population.

INTRODUCTION

Im Sarah. Im starting this blog on the geography of World Religions for an Enviromental Studies project. The project is to write on the geography of anything we want, so I chose World Religions as I think it is an interesting and diverse topic. There are so many religions in the world today, and new ones are being founded.
